Sat Feb 9 05:11:46 EST 2019

Dear Colleagues.

**Please forward this to anyone or any group you think appropriate, though the official advertisement for this position will follow in the coming week or so. Apologies if you receive this more than once.**

The University of East Anglia (www.uea.ac.uk<http://www.yea.ac.uk/>) is now starting the process of hiring a Lecturer (Assistant Professor equivalent in the UK) in Physics. This focus of this position will be astrophysics, as this is one of the principal areas in which we have decided to concentrate our expertise. The new faculty member will join Dr. Robert Ferdman (https://www.uea.ac.uk/chemistry/people/profile/r-ferdman), whose research focuses on neutron-star physics and radio astronomy — and we hope to bring in at least 1 other additional astrophysics faculty over the next 2–3 years.

UEA is now halfway through the second year of its new Physics programme, and the new hire will contribute to its development and evolution — an exciting opportunity to help build this programme at its early stages.

UEA is located in Norwich, a vibrant and historic city, recently voted as the number one happiest city to work and live in the United Kingdom (https://www.theguardian.com/careers/gallery/2016/feb/02/the-10-happiest-cities-to-work-in-the-uk-in-pictures), in the beautiful county of Norfolk. UEA is a unique campus, which is home to nature trails, large green spaces, the largest indoor sports centre in England, and the Sainsbury Centre for Visual Arts.

The timeline of this faculty search will be as follows: shortlisting will occur at the end of March, with interviews being held in mid-April. Exact dates and details will follow with the official announcement in the next week or so. This preliminary announcement is being sent because of this somewhat rapid timeline.

If you have any enquiries, you may contact Dr. Robert Ferdman at r.ferdman at uea.ac.uk<mailto:r.ferdman at uea.ac.uk>.

Best wishes,

Rob.
