Dear all,
We have to regrettably cancel the in person IPTA science meeting that we
intended to have this year in Australia, given the state of the COVID-19
pandemic.
We are considering the possibility of organising virtual meetings at around
the same time of year.
- Virtual science meeting (live or recorded talks)
- Virtual student workshop (live or recorded talks and tutorials +
practical exercises)
- IPTA hack week: One possibility would be to have a hack week "relay"
where people work in their day time as much as possible, with data
analysis handed off to IPTA members as they start their work day (for
example New Zealand/Australia -> China/India -> Europe/South Africa ->
North America -> New Zealand/Australia)
We will consult with the IPTASC and PTA community members to see if hosting
virtual meetings is feasible. To gauge your interest in any of these
events, or provide feedback on how to make these events effective, we
invite you to fill out the following google form:
https://forms.gle/nq219G8SeJa58XVz7
We are still very keen to welcome everyone to Australia and Tasmania in the
future but will hold off on announcing anything until the global
situation is clearer.
Thank you for your understanding. Please take care and stay safe.
On behalf of the organising committees,
Ryan Shannon
