Dear colleagues,
We are pleased to announce the opportunity for two Research Associate positions funded by an ERC Starter Grant called ‘Spiders’ which aims to use pulsar in compact binaries with irradiated companions as tools to investigate neutron star properties, binary evolution and irradiation in binary systems. The Research Associate will join the ‘Spiders team’ led by Prof Rene Breton at the University of Manchester’s Jodrell Centre for Astrophysics, which comprises around ten postgraduate students, research associates and close collaborators.
We seek talented applicants who will contribute to the group’s original research to find new spider pulsar systems, perform observations and analyse data acquired across the electromagnetic spectrum, and investigate their nature using theoretical modelling.
The appointment is available from 1 September 2021 for a period extending to the end of the grant on 31 March 2023. The closing date for full consideration is 20th September.
Please don't hesitate to contact me directly if you have any question.

Kind regards,
Rene
