Postdoc position at the Institute of Space Science (ICE, CSIC):
The astrophysics of pulsar wind nebulae and related systems

We are opening a position for a postdoc with interests in the theoretical
development of our understanding of pulsar wind nebulae and related
systems.
The candidate will join ongoing research on radiative / hydrodynamical
models of PWNe,
including reverberation. We are particularly interested in candidates with
previous
experience in this topic, either using radiative codes or with HD/MHD codes
such as PLUTO,
or both. The candidate should have a good background with C++, Python, and
Fortran programming languages. Other research in the group spans
transitional pulsars and gamma-ray binaries, accreting binaries,
magnetospheric emission from pulsars, and applications of
graph theory and machine learning to aspects of pulsar physics and
astrophysics.

The Institute of Space Sciences (ICE) has been recently distinguished
with the María de Maeztu Excellence Seal, as one of the top research
centers in the country. It has 24 faculty members. Their
areas of research vary from engineering applied to several space
missions to fundamental physics and cosmology, from high-energy
astronomy to theoretical astrophysics.

ICE is part of the "Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas"
(CSIC, the Spanish National Research Council). CSIC is the largest
public institution dedicated to research in Spain and the third largest
in Europe. Members of ICE are affiliated too to the Catalan Institute of
Space Studies (IEEC, Institut d'Estudis Espacials de Catalunya).

ICE strives to build a culturally diverse community of researchers,
dedicated to contributing to an inclusive environment. We encourage, in
particular, applications by women and members of minorities.

ICE is located in a modern building on the Campus of the Universidad
Autònoma de Barcelona in Bellaterra, just outside Barcelona. The Campus
is well served by public transportation (railways and buses), and a
variety of accommodation options can be found both in
Barcelona city center and in the smaller towns close to the University
Campus (Cerdanyola, Sabadell, Terrassa, Sant Cugat, Sant Quirze, Rubí, and
others).

To apply please send your cover letter, CV, and publications list in a
single pdf
(in case your papers were published with large collaborations, please
clarify your
contribution and involvement) together with the names of at least 2 persons
who can
write a letter of reference for you to:

The position will be open until filled and its expected duration is 2
years. The salary will be according to CSIC's scale and will be fixed
according to experience.
A starting date in early 2023 is preferred.
