Dear colleagues,
We are excited to open registration for the workshop "Multi-wavelength
follow-up of fast radio bursts in the era of routine (sub)arcsecond
localizations" that will be held *2023 April 25-26* in Toronto, Canada.
With new facilities coming online or being upgraded in the next few years
(e.g., DSA-110, the coherent-search upgrade to CRAFT, CHIME/FRB Outriggers)
we will start getting hundreds of (sub)arcsecond localizations of fast
radio bursts (FRBs) per year. It will likely not be feasible to acquire
telescope time to get, e.g., spectroscopic redshifts of all host galaxies
or take deep X-ray observations of all nearby sources. It is thus key to
strategize with the full astronomy community interested in these sources.
This workshop, organized by the CHIME/FRB Collaboration and the Dunlap
Institute for Astronomy & Astrophysics, will bring together experts on FRB
localization and multi-wavelength followup of transients as well as those
interested in using FRBs with redshifts as probes. In this workshop we will
discuss current and future capabilities of instruments and come up with
strategies to ensure that all scientific goals are met without
oversubscribing telescope time.
This will be a two-day meeting with invited plenary talks in the morning
and discussions in smaller groups in the afternoon.
