[Everyone] Bell Burnell graduate Scholarship Fund

Dear colleagues,

The first call for applications for PhD scholarships in the UK through the Bell Burnell Fund is now open! This covers up to 4 years and is aimed specifically at groups that are currently underrepresented in physics.  it is funded through an endowment from Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell (from her recent landmark Breakthrough Prize win), and administered by the IOP. The definition of “underrepresented” groups (under rolling review) is as follows:

“women, students of Black-Caribbean, Black-African and other minority ethnic (BAME) heritage, students with disabilities, or who require additional funding to support inclusive learning, LGBT+ students and students from disadvantaged backgrounds who may struggle to find the levels of funding needed to complete their studies. People with qualifying refugee status who meet the above criteria are also encouraged to apply. Priority will be given to students who meet multiple criteria”

I can think of no more appropriate potential recipients for this first round than undergraduates coming from, or who have shown interest in, the pulsar community!  In the UK there are now several pulsar/NS groups to which students can apply
