[IPTA Clock] clock data set v1.0

Hi all,

I've had a first go a making an IPTA data set for use as part of the clock project. The data set is attached to this email as ipta_v1.tar.gz. I have included all 28 pulsars in the IPTA sample. This is very much an initial data set and:

1. doesn't include EFACs/EQUADs etc.
2. doesn't include any DM correction
3. doesn't include any sub-channel offsets

However,
1. all pulsars are referred to TT(BIPM2011) and DE421
2. all pulsar names are J names
3. removed the use of ecliptic coordinates (probably not a good idea)
4. everything is in tempo2 format
5. all the arrival times are in one file that can be time sorted (i.e., TIME commands have been removed and replaced with flags)
6. weighting is turned on

Mike and I have also ensured that the tempo2 clock files are up-to-date in CVS (this has included updating TT(BIPM2011))

This is an initial data set. The final data set will be significantly different (the DM correction will make a huge difference), but the number of pulsars, data spans, number of points, frequencies etc. are likely to remain basically the same. Therefore, the point of sending out this data set is for people to dust of their algorithms and ensure that their version of tempo2 is up-to-date etc.

I attach four figures that give a basic summary of the data. The first (ipta.ps) shows the data sampling for the IPTA pulsars. The different colours indicate different observing frequencies:

black (f < 500MHz)
red (f < 700MHz)
green (f < 1000 MHz)
dark blue (f < 1500 MHz)
light blue (f < 2000 MHz)
pink (f < 4000 MHz)
yellow (f > 4000 MHz)

The second plot (nano.ps) is the same, but just for the NANOGrav data and epta.ps and ppta.ps are the same for those PTAs.

So, please have a play with the data sets and please let me know if you find any major issues. My intention is:

ipta_v1.0 -- the data set attached to this email
ipta_v1.1 -- include DM correction
ipta_v1.2 -- include EFAC/EQUADs
ipta_v1.3 -- include high quality .par file and Cholesky models

Around version 1.2, I'll also work with Mike to produce the simulated data sets that have the same properties as the known data, but also has a known clock signal.

Finally this email distribution list has lots of PPTA and EPTA members, but very few NANOgrav members. Rossina/Demetrios, do you think that we should try and get some more NANOGrav members involved? If so, how?

Cheers,
 George
